Srinagar, Jul 02 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) has said it proposed Integrated Management Plan for conservation of Dal-Nigeen lake eco-system at a cost of Rs 273 crores. The management authority as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) when asked about the details of any project report submitted to Government about Dal or Nigeen Lake and other water said, “Integrated management plan for conservation of Dal-Nigeen lake eco-system with DPR cost Rs 273 cr has been submitted to MHA, government of India.” Besides, the LCMA in a response to question wherein details of areas where de-weeding was carried out as on May-31-2023 and the area which has been left out with reason has said, “The de-weeding is carried out manually and mechanically in the Lakes generally from the spring season upto onset of winter season.” The information was revealed by the Public Information Officer of LCMA in a reply to an RTI application filed by activist M M Shuja. “The manual de-weeding is carried out along the shoreline from Dalgate to Hazratbal, including various areas in Ashaibagh, Nigeen Lake, Pokhribal etc,” it reads. LCMA PIO also said that the manual de-weeding work is being outsourced after the tendering process. “The Mechanical deweeding is carried out in the lake proper in Gagribal basin, Lokut Dal, Bod Dal, Ashaibagh, Nigeen areas etc, partly by engaging departmental machinery and party by deploying the hired machinery after tendering process,” it reads—(KNO)
